The Pinot Noir project
The Future is represented by a new challenge: the Pinot Noir
A few consideration on Pinot Noir are necessary though. It is to be pointed out that Maria Adele Galanti, who has always loved "Burgundy" - Pinot Noir - 13 years ago ha chosen Oltreo Pavese, as it is the largest Italian area where Pinot Noir has found its ideal environment. And it is in this ideal environment that she created her "Burgundy", which today has become the red Pinot Noir "Iperbole", a name that is reminiscent of a willingness to constantly reaserch and exceed ones own limits. Pinot Noir is a grape with an old charme and it is one of the most delicate and difficult species of vine to cultivate. It is however able to produce extraordinarily pleasant and long-lived wines.
Since 2006 the company has produced a sumptuous red Pinot Noir called "Iperbole" in limited edition, beloved by press and wine connoisseurs. It was chosen among the Top Hundred 2008 Italian wined by the guide "Il Golosario" by P. Massobrio and M. Gatti. The same P. Massobrio in his 2009 Book "The Days of Wine", dedicated the day of 20th of February to Ca' Boffenisio "Iperbole" titleling "Mad for Pinot Noir". The actual volume of only 4,000-5,000 bottles will be increased thanks to the new vineyeards of 9-10 hectares of land, which will be planted in the two year period 2010-2011. A zonation study of the Territory of the Oltrepo Pavese for the Pinot Noir species of vine, and clones for red wine, carried out by the Consortium for the Protection of Broni in co-operation with the study group led by Professor Attilio Scienza of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Milan, has highlighted the big potential, due to the soil, morphological, climate characteristics of the Terroir of Boffenisio for the cultivation of Pinot Noir, clones for great red wines both for ageing and not, as well as for great sparkling Spumante rosè DOCG common trademark Cruase' Oltrepo Pavese. The dry and microclimate of Boffenisio basin and the north-west exposure of the Vineyeard at he feet of the wood, make our area an ideal environment for a variety which is so difficult to cultivate.
With this ambition, Cà Boffenisio from its "specific, small, hidden corner of the world" introduces itself as a representative of an entire territory. A territory which is one of the most important for winemaking in Italy and that today has a new pearl to appreciate and discover.
The expert in political affairs Joel Fleischmann wrote that Pinot Noir is "the most romantic of wines, with such an enveloping fragrance, with such tones of sweetness inserted into a base which is so powerful that, like falling in love, warms up your heart and pushes your soul to embarrassing lyricism".
